What a Russian manicure is
A Russian manicure (or dry manicure) differs from a classic manicure in how the cuticles are treated: no soaking, no scissors. Dead skin and cuticle are lifted and removed with small electric-file bits, to clear the whole outline of the nail.
Gel polish is then applied right up to the cuticle, with no gap. The result is very clean and, as the colour starts against the skin, regrowth shows later.
In the same appointment you can add BIAB strengthening (builder in a bottle): a thin layer of flexible builder gel on the natural nail, which helps it grow without breaking. A popular combination for long, strong natural nails.
How the appointment goes
- Choice of shape and colour.
- E-file cuticle work: bits suited to each area, a light touch.
- Shaping and filing, then degreasing the nail.
- BIAB if you have chosen it, then base, colour and top coat cured under a UV/LED lamp, right up to the cuticle.
- Cuticle oil.
Allow more time than a classic manicure: the cuticle work is done finger by finger. The exact duration is shown when you book.
How long it lasts, and how to look after it
Gel polish usually lasts 2 to 3 weeks; applied right up to the cuticle, it stays neat for longer because regrowth is less visible. With BIAB, clients usually come back every 3 to 4 weeks for an infill.
Between appointments: cuticle oil, gloves for housework, and no polish peeled off by hand. Removal is done at the salon, gently.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Russian manicure hurt?
No: we remove dead skin and cuticle, not living skin, with a light touch. If you are sensitive, tell us and we adapt.
Russian manicure or classic manicure?
A classic manicure pushes back the cuticles; a Russian manicure removes them with an e-file and applies the polish right up to the skin: cleaner finish, less visible regrowth, longer appointment.
What exactly is BIAB?
A flexible builder gel applied in a thin layer on the natural nail, under the colour. It strengthens fragile nails without adding length, and is infilled every 3 to 4 weeks.
How much is a Russian manicure?
A Russian manicure is €60 and takes 45 minutes; BIAB is €40 and takes 35 minutes. Kim Nails prices; the exact menu of your salon is shown when you book.
Are the tools sterilised?
Yes: all tools are sterilised in a UV oven, then disinfected.
