Lash extensions: classic, Russian volume or lash lift, how to choose?

Classic, natural volume, Russian volume, lash lift: the choice is not obvious. This guide compares the four options, their duration, aftercare and price at Kim Nails, and shows a classic lash-by-lash set on video, from prep to result. Kim, our founder, lent us her eyes for the video.

The classic set, step by step

  1. Prep: the client lies back with her eyes closed and protective pads under the eyes.
  2. Each natural lash is isolated with tweezers.
  3. A fine extension is brought close to the natural lash, with precision.
  4. Natural set, lash by lash: one extension per natural lash, never on the skin.
  5. Careful placement, extension by extension, along the whole lash line.
  6. The result: a natural, enhanced look.

Classic is the most natural set; Russian volume is the densest. If you hesitate, we decide together at the salon, looking at the thickness and length of your natural lashes. For the extensions-vs-lift choice, see Extensions or lash lift.

How long does it last, and how often to get an infill

Natural lashes shed and regrow all the time: the extensions go with them. An infill every 3 weeks keeps the set full: we replace the extensions that have fallen and rework the lashes that have grown. Later than that, the set thins out and the infill takes longer; beyond that, a new full set may suit you better.

Aftercare: the right habits

  • No water or steam for the first 24 hours.
  • No waterproof mascara or oily remover.
  • A gentle brush each morning with a clean spoolie.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes and pulling on the extensions: to remove them, removal at the salon is possible at any time.

Hygiene at the salon

Small tools (tweezers) are sterilised in a UV oven then disinfected between clients, and the client wears protective pads under the eyes.

Frequently asked questions

Classic or volume: how to choose?

Classic gives a mascara effect, natural and light; volume adds density, especially if your lashes are fine or sparse. We decide together at the salon, looking at your lashes.

What is the difference between natural volume and Russian volume?

Both place several very fine extensions on one natural lash. Natural volume stays light; Russian volume uses fuller fans for a denser look.

How long does a lash extension appointment take?

Allow about 1 h 30 for a full set and about 1 h for an infill.

How often should I get an infill?

Every 3 weeks. Infills start from €40 for natural volume and from €65 for Russian volume.

How much do lash extensions cost?

A classic full set is €70 at the 17th, €85 at the 8th and €75 in our other salons. The volume price is shown when you book.

Lash lift or lash extensions?

A lash lift curls your natural lashes without adding anything, for a light effect. Extensions add length and density but need regular infills.

Do extensions damage lashes?

Applied to a suitable natural lash, at the right length and with proper care, they do not damage it. What damages lashes is pulling on them: come in for a removal rather than taking them off yourself.

Do I need an appointment?

You can walk in or book depending on availability. To be sure of your slot, book online in a minute; after 7 pm, by appointment only.
